Abstract
Pembangunan ekonomi daerah bertujuan untuk menyejahterakan masyarakat yang ada di daerah, akan tetapi daerah memiliki kemampuan keuangan dan sumber daya yang terbatas sehingga konsekuensinya pembangunan harus di fokuskan pada sektor yang memiliki keunggulan dan memberikan dampak yang besar terhadap sektor-sektor lainnya. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi sektor yang mempunyai keunggulan di Kota Pematangsiantar. Metode yang digunakan adalah gabungan antara metode Location Quotient (LQ) yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui sektor basis, metode shift share yang bertujuan untuk melihat pola pertumbuhan sektor, metode Model Rasio Pertumbuhan (MRP) untuk membandingkan pertumbuhan sektor tertentu di Kota Pematangsiantar dengan Provinsi Sumatera Utara dan analisis overlay untuk menentukan sektorsektor unggulan yang ada di Kota Pematangsiantar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat 3 sektor unggulan yang ada di Kota Pematangsiantar yaitu, sektor perdagangan besar dan eceran, reparasi mobil dan sepeda motor; sektor transportasi dan pergudangan; dan sektor penyediaan akomodasi dan makan minum. Sektorsektor seharusnya mendapat perhatian lebih bagi pemerintah guna memajukan perekonomian Kota Pematangsiantar. / Local economic development aims for the welfare of society that existed in the area, but the area has the financial capacity and resources are limited so the consequences is the government should be focused on those sectors which have advantages and have a large effect than other sectors. Base on this, the purpose of this study is to identify sectors that have advantages in Pematangsiantar City. The method used is a combination of the Location Quotient (LQ) method which aims to determine the base sector, shift share method which aims to see the pattern of sector growth, Growth Ratio Model (MRP) method to compare the growth of certain sectors in Pematangsiantar City with North Sumatra Province and overlay analysis to determine the leading setors in Pematangsiantar City. The results showed that there were 3 leading sectors in Pematangsiantar City namely, wholesale and retail trade, car and motorcycle repair; transportation and warehousing sector; and the sector of providing accommodation and food and drink. These sectors should receive more attention from the government in order to advance the economy of Pematangsiantar City.
